Pillow Pet Party

The pillow pet party has come and gone (and I've had a day to recover). We'll start with a repost of the invitation I made on Picnik
I used the collage feature, for the middle picture I used a random photo covered it with a white square sticker and added text. On the back was all the party information. Inspiration came from this post  on I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.

Here's the happy birthday girl!

All the pillow pets her friends brought!!!

We played two pillow pet themed games, pin the antenna on the lady bug pillow pet and musical pillow pets (musical chairs but with pillow pets instead).

Pillow Pet Ladybug cake, my first experience with fondant. It was pretty easy to make and work with and I think the cake turned out great.

Blowing out the candle!

And opening gobs of presents.
Everyone had a great time and it wasn't too crazy! She had two friends spend the night after the party. They enjoyed (even if they don't look like it) using their Book-it pizza certificates together.

Happy Birthday Ellie

Ellie turned 7 on Monday. We've already had two celebrations with a third coming up on Saturday. Here's the highlights so far. First we celebrated in Indiana...
Strawberry Shortcake I made for her

Her 7 year old outfit

Just blew out the candle (I totally blew it on the timing)

Presents and Michael being bossy :)
Then we did presents at home and went out to dinner on Monday

Presents at home

Going to bed in her new handmade jammies and looking tired after 4 days of celebrating

Quarry Hike

The other hike we took was to look at an old rock quarry. The kids were really whinny but I still think they had fun.
See the whining

Indiana Bird Watching

We spent four days in Indiana relaxing, visiting family and celebrating Ellie's birthday. The weather was great so we went out for a couple hikes, one to a Bald Eagle viewing site. Here's a picture of the Eagle's nest. With binoculars we could see the Eagle's head sticking out of the nest!

Michael and Gary looking for the Eagle

After bird watching we hiked through a marsh. We didn't see too much wildlife, but it was a great hike. The kids got a little tired, but made it the 1.7 miles with only a couple piggy backs at the end.

Pillow pet photo shoot:)

Only a mom would take ten minutes from her day to take pictures of a pillow pet. And then spend thirty more on picnik making invitations to a pillow pet birthday party. But she will love it so it's all worth it!
Now I have to think of some pillow pet games...
